Defintion

Project Management is the discipline of initiation, planning, executing, controlling, and closing the work of a team to achieve specific goals and meet specific success criteria. A project isn’t something that’s part of normal business operations. A project is a unique, transient endeavour undertaken to achieve planned objectives. It has a beginning and an end.

No matter what the type of project, project management typically follows five process groups including:

  1. Initiation
  2. Planning
  3. Execution
  4. Control
  5. Closure

These process groups are defined as a set of interrelated actions and activities performed to achieve a pre-determined product, result, or service.
